Test Methodology

Semi-Quantitative Indirect Fluorescent Antibody.

Islet cell antibodies have been associated with "autoimmune" endocrine disorders and insulin dependent diabetes. This disorder is characterized by the presence of antibodies in patients that may be detected years before the onset of the clinical symptoms.

To calculate JDF units: Multiply the titer x 5 (1:8 8 x 5 = 40 JDF Units).

Clinical Utility

This assay is used to aid in the diagnosis of "autoimmune" endocrine disorders and insulin dependent diabetes.
