  • This panel includes: ArsenicCadmiumLead, and Mercury.
  • Diet, medication, and nutritional supplements may introduce interfering substances.  Patients should be encouraged to discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, non-essential over-the-counter medications (upon the advice of their physician), and avoid shellfish and seafood for 48 to 72 hours.

Specimen Collection Criteria

Collect: One Royal Blue-top EDTA tube.

Physician Office/Drawsite Specimen Preparation

Do not centrifuge or freeze specimen. Maintain whole blood at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F) until transport.

Preparation for Courier Transport

Transport: 7.0 mL whole blood, at room temperature (20-26°C or 68-78.8°F). (Min: 1.5 mL)

Rejection Criteria

  • Centrifuged specimens.
  • Frozen specimens.
  • Specimens not collected and processed as indicated.


If the sample is drawn and stored in the appropriate container, the trace element values do not change with time.


Sunday - Saturday.
Results available in 2-4 days.
