This assay includes both Vitamin B12 and Folate levels. Please see individual tests for information:
Notes:
- It is recommended that the specimen be protected from light.
- Folate is stable refrigerated for 2 days. Vitamin B12 is stable refrigerated for 7 days. Add-on requests for the Vitamin B12/Folate assay can only be made if less than 48 hours has elapsed since the collection time. However, individual Vitamin B12 orders can be completed up to 7 days after collection of the refrigerated specimen.
Clinical Utility
Since macrocytic anemia often requires measurement of both Vitamin B12 and Folate levels it may be more economical and convenient to perform both tests at the same time.
