Specimen Collection Criteria
Collect: Body fluid or fresh tissue in a sterile collection container.
- BAL, Bronchial Wash, Sputum: Collect 3.0 mL. (Minimum: 1.0 mL)
- CSF: Collect 2.0 mL. (Minimum: 1.0 mL)
- Pericardial, Peritoneal, Pleural, Ocular Fluid: Collect 2.0 mL. (Minimum: 1.0 mL)
- Tissue: Collect 5-10 mm and keep moist with saline.
Physician Office/Draw Specimen Preparation
Maintain specimen refrigerated (2-8°C or 36-46°F) prior to transport.
Preparation for Courier Transport
Transport: Body fluid or fresh tissue in a sterile collection container, refrigerated (2-8°C or 36-46°F).
Rejection Criteria
Specimens not collected and processed as indicated.
In-Lab Processing

Specimen Stability for Testing:
