Test Methodology

Quantitative Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Interpretation

Quetiapine (Seroquel®) is rapidly absorbed following oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations obtained in 1 to 1.5 hours post dose.

Clinical Utility

This assay aids in the therapuetic drug monitoring of quetiapine. Quetiapine (Seroquel®) is a new, FDA-approved agent for management of the manifestations of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia. A structural analogue of Clozapine, Quintapine addresses the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia, but has fewer side efects.
