Laboratory

Sent to ARUP Laboratories, Salt Lake City, UT.

Performed

Tuesday, Friday.
Results available in 2-6 days.

Reference Range

Therapeutic: 2.0-6.0 mcg/mL.
Toxic: Greater than 6.0 mcg/mL.

Test Methodology

Quantitative Enzyme Multiplied Immunoassay Technique.

Interpretation

Disopyramide exhibits nonlinear protein binding within the therapeutic range. Unbound Disopyramide increases disproportionatly to increases in Disopyramide dosing.

Clinical Utility

Disopyramide is used in the treatment of unifocal premature (ectopic) ventricular contractions and ventricular tachycardia. This assay is used for the therapeutic monitoring and toxicity assessment of disopyramide.
